In his Philosophy classes, Frederick aims to instill notions of ethics and wisdom into his disinterested students. Éloïse, the school janitor, is finally in a relationship but her daughter Cassandra cannot tolerate her new partner, herself enthralled by a burning desire for an older man - a partner possessive and brutal in his relations - and all these passions, subordinate to a disloyal environment.
